Only the legal guardian of the player (“student-athlete”) may register said player. Before beginning the registration process for your child to play volleyball through the Newark Volleyball Association (“NVA”), review the criteria below:
How do I register my child to play for the NVA?
There are a few steps and requirements for this process, so we have outlined them step by step for your convenience.
How much does it cost to play through the NVA?
Tryouts: $10 to participate in tryouts and the cost of OVR tryout membership ($10)
After placement on a team: cost of OVR Full membership ($57)
Most costs associated with playing are funded through donations and team sponsorships * unless sponsorships cannot be located, in which costs would be approximately $600 per player.

This step completes Player Registration with the NVA for your child, but does not place them on a team. Placement on a team is explained below.
When will more playing opportunities become available?
Before our association can take on the responsibility of hosting more teams through our business, we must be certain that all requirements for a team will be met: such as a Head Coach, Manager, and practice accommodations

Placement during the OVR’s Early Signing Period
Players who were already on the roster of an NVA team in the previous season can be offered placement on a team during the OVR’s Early Signing Period (June 1 – July 31) without the need to attend tryouts. RETURNING STUDENT-ATHLETES AND THEIR LEGAL GUARDIAN/VOTING AFFILIATE MUST SIGN THE STUDENT-ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY AGREEMENT BEFORE AN OFFER OF PLACEMENT ON A TEAM CAN BE SENT. FAILURE TO COMPLY IN TIME COULD RESULT IN THE FORFEITURE OF THIS BENEFIT. For those who this applies, email a signed copy of the agreement to the club director, or call to arrange the transfer of the signed agreement to the company’s club director.

Placement after fall tryouts
Through your registration with the NVA, you will be notified of the upcoming fall tryouts, one month, one week, and one day before tryouts. After tryouts, offers will be made to potential student-athletes through SportsEngine. Acceptance of said offer would place your child on an NVA team.
